Entrapped: The Alpha and the Captive (Briar Wood Pack Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 697 ratings

Drew is an alpha who can’t bond, a shifter without a future. Leaving Briar Wood behind, he returns to what he knows best, losing himself in the thrill of the fight. Until the day he wakes up with an omega in his bed, carrying his bond mark. All too late, he realizes he’s been caught in a trap, chained and forced to fight for another pack.

Cal was the pride of his pack until they learned he was broken. He can bond to any alpha but his bond marks
always fade. A burden on his pack, he was alone and ignored until his uncle found a use for his unique ability: ensnaring alphas for their pack’s fighting ring. But the things his uncle makes him do are slowly tearing Cal apart. When Drew’s bond mark doesn’t fade, Cal knows he’s in a world of trouble. Bonded to the alpha he trapped, he fears what will happen when his pack, and Drew, learn the truth.

Drew’s fury is tempered by the growing realization that Cal is just as much a captive as he is, manipulated into doing terrible things out of loyalty to his pack. If Drew has any chance of escape, he’ll need Cal’s help. More than that, he wants to get the omega to freedom, to safety. Maybe there’s no bond between them but he can’t shake the feeling there’s a connection there. And if that connection turns out to be more than skin-deep, can they break away from the chains of their pasts to be together?

Entrapped is a novel-length read, containing mpreg, a hard-won bond, some difficult themes, and scenes not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen.

Claire Cullen is an author and aspiring baker. Since she was a toddler, she has loved making up stories. Getting them down on paper proved a challenge in the early years when her preferred medium was finger puppets. She moved on to pen and paper, and later to keyboards, and hasn't looked back since, except for occasional bouts of nostalgia.

Claire loves to write strong, Alpha males with protective streaks a mile wide and counterpoint them with love interests with the inner strength to survive the trials life has thrown at them.

Most of all, Claire loves a happy ever after (but she'll be content with a happy for now).

This is the last book in the series. It ended on a HEA, which was difficult to even contemplate in the past few books because the world is very dark and horrible. MM romance between (An)Drew, the alpha twin of the 3 main brothers, and Cal(lum), an omega mentally and emotionally manipulated and abused by his powerful pack. This series does include Mpreg. Very very dark themes and a conflicting feelings of hope and hopelessness depending on the scenes.

Huge TW to this book and the series. This one features pimping and prostitution, abusive and toxic family, death of a side character, “divorce” shifter style, and drugging side characters and mcs.

Indirectly (the book’s world) TW’s include legal s*x trafficking of all ages, forced fighting rings (even to the death), forced breeding and other horrible stuff.

So I got addicted to this series because its not your typical omega becomes the alpha mate and does all he wants. The omega are saved and given choice as well as power over their lives. In some cases the omega is the one saving their alpha. This last book in the Briar Woods series ends with the three brothers reunited and happy with mates as well as achieving Griffins goal of aligning with a powerful pack and beginning to change the shifter community.

The story of Drew is that he is the angry alpha who could not protect, find and save his omega brothers. Then to find that their home pack has fallen apart had left him without a path or a reason to keep going in life. So he goes to what he knows best...fighting.

Cal is the omega who can't preform an omegas job. He can't bond so the pack alpha forgets about him but his jealous uncle sees him as an opportunity to entrap fighters that he can use to gain money.

This whole story is about two people who think they have no real place or way to have a family by themselves only to find that if they hold on to each other and fight for what they want it will all work out.

I just have two complaints. One is that I know this is an M/M romance but there are barely any female characters and only two baby girls were born. Again I know this is an M/M book but it was just weird having only Kitty mentioned mor than once and having an active roll not just a name with a line or two. The second complaint and what truly upsets 😡 me is that you killed Darcy. I wanted him to have a happy ending. Of all the people you had to kill off it had to be the one Bata everyone turned to. The one who was helping to peice everyone back together. Uggg I am so mad about this. It is also how you know you have a good book when people can feel invested in the characters.

I thought that this was a very good story and it may be a fitting end it to this series. But I would like to read another one till see how these changes they tried to make play out. One major disappointment was I did not like the death of the character Darcy. I did not think that was necessary to kill of such a likable character. There’s one thing I would change it would be that. Maybe have Darcy injured like Max but not killed.

This was a really enjoyable series. I loved this book. I was a ball of feelings through it all; I got mad, I laughed, I cried. It was a really good read. Thanks for sharing your work with all us. I truly recommend this book, and the whole series in general.

A good story to end the series or sort of wrap things up. I love how the mcs really fought for their love and happiness. It would be great to see more stories from Briarwood, but I am saddened by the loss of one of the betas. Especially since they have been a min sub character for a while, they never seem to find happiness

Cal couldn't bond. His uncle used him to trap alphas to use in the fighting arena. Then, along cones Drew and things all change for everyone!

To be honest, I would love another story to be about the implementation of all the things that were to be corrected and getting rid of the nay sayers, by casting them out of office for non-compliance of the rules. This was a fitting end to these wonderful love stories.

If this is the end if the series, it's a good and sad and happy ending. I think Drew and Cal might've had to deal with the worst deal of all the couples.

This book brings the series to a great ending. Cal is a fascinating omega, complex with his sweetness and his own guilt. Reading how he heals and how Andrew, this alpha with so much rage in his sole heals was very great. I loved the end part were Griffin and his pack shows how important the communication about the darkness in their society is. How important this step is for more stepps of changing. One twist made me cry a lot. Also the mournig was well handled. Thangs again for this series.
